SHS Students Recognized for Leadership and Service

Two Splendora High School students are being recognized for their commitment to service and leadership as members of Education in Action's 2025–2026 Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council.
After attending the Lone Star Leadership Academy, students Stormi Bennett and Drew Grahlfs were invited to join the prestigious Alumni Council, where they continued to develop their leadership skills throughout the school year. As part of the program, each student identified a need within their school or community and designed and led a service project involving fellow volunteers.
Stormi Bennett, a second-year Alumni Council member, led "Donuts for Deputies," a project that showed appreciation for local law enforcement officers. Alongside sponsor Natalie Gillaspy, Stormi organized donations to purchase donuts, breakfast tacos, and drinks for members of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office. Stormi and Ms. Gillaspy personally delivered the items, expressing gratitude for the officers' service to the community.
"Throughout my service project, I learned the more love and appreciation you spread, the more others will follow your lead and want to do the same," said Stormi.
Drew Grahlfs, a fourth-year Alumni Council member, led "The Band Bin," a project designed to support students in need within the Splendora High School band program. Drew and fellow drum majors collected hygiene items and donated them to students, helping ensure their peers had access to essential personal care products.
"We learned what people in our community need, and how it feels to impact those around us," Drew shared.
The Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council challenges students to apply leadership skills through meaningful service projects that positively impact their schools and communities. This year, 128 students from across Texas completed the program.
Splendora ISD is proud of Stormi and Drew for demonstrating compassion, initiative, and servant leadership while making a difference in others' lives. Their efforts reflect the district's mission of Cultivating Exceptional People and showcase the positive impact young leaders can have in their communities.
